Rebels game results

With a final score of 17-5 the weather sure was not stopping this JV squad from a hard earned win last night in Goochland. Once again our strong stick kills and ability to use the whole field helped to accomplish our goals. Chaney Manganello won 95% percent of the draws helping to set the pace for the game early on. This game gave us the opportunity to practice many new things both on offense and defense; left handed shots, our stall, and different plays. We had many strong 1v1 challenges from a number of different players resulting in goals. Charlotte Sisk had a great attacking performance with three goals and five assists, finishing many long passing sequences down the field. Jordan Roman had 10 saves in goal and continues to improve on her clears. Sydney and Chaney both contributed four goals, Ralsie scored two, and Emily Johnson and Eliza Sullivan both had one.

St. Anne's-Belfield Game, 4/4/08

Practice this week was tough because of all the rain, but this did not show in our stellar performance on Friday. Six different people contributed to scoring and assisting proving how versatile and talented this squad truly is. Jordan Roman had another strong performance in net with 9 saves. At the half we were ahead 5-3 and continued to fight until the bitter end for a final score of 11-8. Our defense was lead by Emily Johnson, Maime Robertson, Elizabeth Kerns, Caroline Rose, Allie Huitt, and Chaney Mangenello. These girls worked on every possession to get the ball back with beautiful slides, doubles, and loud communication. The referee commented at the end of the game that "this was the best team defense he has ever seen in a JV program", which is a huge complement to our athletes. Ralsie Brooke hustled very hard in the midfield and finished many great plays on attack. Our mid-field transition is coming together beautifully with cut backs, outlets, and unselfish play.

Steward game 4/2/08
Today we had strong leadership from the three captains Chaney Manganello, Sydney Schriner, and Allie Huitt. After a strong start, Steward was able to tie the game going into the half 4-4. With focus and intensity we were able to notch a goal at a time to pull ahead and win with a final score of 11-7. Strong performances by Douglas Roberts who netted three goals and Sydney Schriner who netted four. Caroline Rose, Allie Huitt, and Helen Warner came up with some big stops in the last 10 minutes forcing turn-overs and returning the ball up field to our attack.

Update 4/1/08
Saints JV lacrosse is off to a great start with a 2-1 record. The 2008 squad is a fantastic group of girls who are motivated, hard working, positive, and very coachable. With each game and each week of practice we continue to improve and build upon our already strong lacrosse foundation. We've had very exciting games with Steward and Albermarle, and a heartbreaking loss to Collegiate 8-7.  Goalkeeper Jordan Roman has really stepped up, as she is new to lacrosse, but proved herself early with 22 recorded saves. Our scoring has come from several players, Douglas Roberts (8g), Sydney Schriner (5g,2a), Chaney Manganello (4g,1a), and Ralsie Brook (5g). Our strong line defenders have protected the goal and continue to improve with each contest.  The JV team is a talented and experienced group of players who are making a statement about the future of Saints lacrosse.
