Students Win Arts Awards
Twenty-nine St. Catherine's students, representing Upper and Middle School, were honored with Scholastic Arts Awards.
St. Catherine’s students were recognized for their artistic achievements at the Scholastic Arts Awards ceremony at VMFA over the weekend.
The Scholastic Art Awards is the nation’s largest, longest-running, and most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in the visual arts. Nearly 200,000 students submit their best pieces for review by panels of art professionals.
Senior Alaina Wibberly was awarded the prestigious Gold Key for her art portfolio while freshman Maddy Fratarcangelo received nine total awards.
The awards are broken into several categories:
Gold Key: The highest level of achievement on the regional level. The winning work is exhibited at VMFA and online. All Gold Key work is digitally adjudicated at the national level.
Gold Key Portfolio: For high school seniors only. A portion of the winning portfolio is exhibited at VMFA and online. All Gold Key portfolios are digitally adjudicated at the national level and are eligible for scholarships.
Silver Key: Works worthy of recognition on the regional level. Work is posted online.
Honorable Mention: Recognizes students with artistic potential.
