Students Sign Honor Pledge
Upper Schools students signed the Honor Pledge Monday morning.
St. Catherine’s is a community deeply rooted in trust and honor. This was evidenced earlier today when Upper School students signed the Honor Pledge during chapel.
Each school year every member of the Upper School signs the pledge, which is then hung on display in the student commons in Ellett Hall.
Senior Bridget Shaia, head of the Honor Council, addressed the students Monday morning.
“Honor is at the core of our community, a vital part of our everyday life,” she told the Upper School students. “We sign the pledge today as a promise to ourselves and our peers to live honorably. It symbolizes our recognition of the importance of integrity in this community.”
The Honor Code is an integral part of the educational experience at St. Catherine’s with appropriate elements present in each division.
Upper School students must write the following statement and sign their name on all work submitted for a class: I have neither given nor received any unauthorized help on this work, nor am I aware of any breach of the Honor Code.
Breach of the Honor Code, whether it happens on campus or off, is taken very seriously. The Honor and Disciplinary Council reviews any student who has breached the code and then recommends disciplinary action to the director of the Upper School.
“St. Catherine’s is a special place and you will leave here with many memories and much knowledge,” Shaia told her classmates. “Most importantly, this place has instilled in us values that we will reflect for years to come. Please do your part to preserve this community of honor."
