  • A Farewell Message from the 2025 June Scholars

Last month, we had the honor of hearing from St. Catherine’s 2025 June Scholars, Sumner Frances Kerr ‘25 and Scarlett Douglas Townsend ‘25, during the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony on the Green.

As we celebrate the end of the 2024-2025 school year, Sumner and Scarlett’s remarks remind us that St. Catherine’s is a special place because of our amazing students – from our youngest students in Early Learners and Junior Kindergarten to the Seniors in the Class of 2025 – and the families, faculty and staff who are dedicated to their success.

We invite you to watch a recording of Scarlett and Sumner's full remarks.

While others (particularly young women) may lose their childish bravery as they age, finding themselves on the edges of discussions rather than charging headfirst into them, St. Catherine’s students will not. Instead, our school fosters that youthful courage into the inquisitive confidence that not only allows you to dominate in a debate, but to grow as a human being and thinker.
    - Scarlett Douglas Townsend ‘25

Senior year has been this bittersweet concoction of laughter and joy and tears all wrapped into one giant group hug. I am so grateful for the strong class of girls around me and the teachers who have guided us through it all.
    -Sumner Frances Kerr ‘25

  • Richmond Times-Dispatch: St. Catherine's wins 1st girls state golf title after years of work by coach Janet Phillips

For years, St. Catherine’s golf coach Janet Phillips hoped to grow the sport enough to have a VISAA state championship.
That wish became a reality this year, and at the top of the podium stood St. Catherine’s as the team winner, while Anna Sleeker won the individual title for the Saints.
“I’ve been working on trying to make this happen for the last 25 years, and then for my team to win it is just outstanding,” Phillips said.
“St. Catherine’s has really changed the landscape of (girls) golf for high schools in the area. I’m so proud of the girls. It’s been remarkable.”
