Robotics Team Earns First Place

Sixth graders finish first for robot design.
     The G.I.R.L.S. (Girls Innovating Robotic Lego Solutions) robotics team finished first in robot design at the VA/DC FLL Tournament at Maggie Walker Governor's School on Saturday. Team G.I.R.L.S., made up of sixth graders, also finished second in Robot Performance at the tournament. The team was named as alternates for the VA/DC FLL Champions Tournament in December.
     ​The​ ​judges​ ​commented​ ​on​ ​their​ ​robot’s​ ​sound construction,​ ​streamlined​ ​design, ​and​ ​clever​ ​use​ ​of​ ​dual​ ​color​ ​sensors​ ​to​ ​align​ ​their​ ​robot.
