Students Walk One Day Without Shoes

Upper and Middle School girls supported the One Day Without Shoes international event.
St. Catherine’s students kicked off their shoes and strolled around campus Tuesday for One Day Without Shoes.
The girls joined millions of people from around the world for the event, sponsored by TOMS Shoes, to raise awareness for the lack of shoes in other countries.
“This day is all about raising awareness,” said junior Jane McGehee, who coordinated the event along with fellow junior Eleanor Siff. “We tend to forget how important shoes really are when our closets are filled with shoes, some of which we don't even wear.
“Kids around the world cannot attend school because they don't have shoes. People around the world are dying from diseases that can be easily prevented by wearing shoes.”
Upper and Middle School students joined together in the early afternoon to walk around the Green in support of the international event.
Meriwether Godsey, the School’s culinary partner, served lunch outdoors and decorated with blue and white balloons in the spirit of the day.
