Olympic Torch Appears at Greek Olympics

Fifth grader Doxey Loupassi held her grandfather's Olympic torch during the fifth grade Olympics earlier this week.
Amidst the foil covered seals, strainers used as hats and soccer shin guards as protective gear, one accessory stood out among the rest at the fifth grade Greek Olympics on Monday.
That one was an authentic Olympic torch from the 1996 Olympic games.
Fifth grader Doxey Loupassi proudly held the torch as she swore in her fellow fifth graders before the competition. Her grandfather, Manuel Loupassi, carried the torch down Monument Avenue during the torch run prior to the Olympic games in Atlanta.
Doxey said she was very excited to use the authentic torch during the School event. Her grandfather, a Greek immigrant and Olympic enthusiast, keeps the torch on display in his house.
