St. Catherine's alumnae traveled to the White House for a special Christmas tour.
A group of 250 St. Catherine’s alumnae, as well as Head of School Laura Erickson and other school staff, traveled to the White House for a special Christmas tour last week. The visit was courtesy of Margaret Molster Bush '77, sister in law of current President George W. Bush.
More than 70 people traveled from Richmond on two buses while other alumnae met the group in Washington, D.C. The gathering included alumnae primarily from Richmond and the Washington D.C. area, but some traveled from as far as Florida, South Carolina and Colorado for the special visit at the White House.
“We were thrilled with the wonderful turnout,” said Kim Lebar, Director of Development at St. Catherine’s School. “It was so much fun to see alumnae of all ages reconnecting with classmates and making new friends. We are so grateful to Margaret for arranging this very special event. Everyone had a great time.”
After lining up outside the White House in alphabetical order, the group was greeted by Margaret Molster Bush and then escorted into the building. The 1½-hour tour included visits through the East Wing, Ground Floor Corridor, East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, State Dining Room. Cross Hall and Grand Foyer.
In those rooms the alumnae saw the Christmas decorations following the theme of “A Red, White and Blue Christmas” including the White House Christmas tree in the Blue room. Read the official White House Tour Program.
