Alumnae Award Winners Celebrated During Reunion Weekend

Dr. Anne Charity Hudley '94, Mary Childs '04 and Jackie Harrison Mason '74 were all honored during Reunion Weekend.
St. Catherine's celebrated Alumna Award recipients during Reunion Weekend earlier this month.
The Distinguished Alumna Award was given to Dr. Anne Charity Hudley '94, Associate Dean of Educational Affairs and Professor of Education at Stanford University and Professor of African-American Studies and Linguistics.
The Distinguished Young Alumna was awarded to Mary Childs '04, journalist and co-host of National Public Radio’s Planet Money. The award was accepted on her behalf by her sister, Britt Childs Staley '01.
Outstanding Service was awarded to Jackie Harrison Mason '74, a retired Head of the St. Catherine's Dance Department,
Hudley, inspired by her time in chapel as a student, created her own benediction “with a twist”, including these words for our alumnae, “For the alumnae who came after 1994- this award is quite formidable, but we are still so messy and learning. Keep moving and working, see the world while you are young, and do something bold!  For the alumnae who preceded 1994, we still need your help! What can you teach us as we squarely find our place in the world?”
Mason shared that she never felt like what she was doing for St. Catherine’s was “doing anything exceptional or outstanding, I was simply acting out of love.”
Childs remarks, “When you’re given the gift of high expectations, not only are you motivated to meet them, but you also pass them along. St. Catherine’s taught me to expect the best of myself and of women, what a tremendous privilege that is.”
