About:
I'm from Salem, Virginia, but have lived in Richmond for almost 35 years. In fact, we still live in the first house we ever owned-32 years now. I have four daughters, love to bake, and got my first dog when I was 52 years old!
My Daughter's hobbies/interests:
I've had four VERY different daughters go through St. Catherine's, all with very different interests. My current daughter doesn't like to miss a thing, especially in the arts world, so she is in the theater program, a few singing groups and the orchestra. She also does Battle of the Brains and loves being a Student Ambassador. She loves her classes and her teachers, but English and History seem to have really captured her interest this year.
Things we enjoy doing as a family:
We love traveling to visit her big sisters, grandparents and cousins. We get a kick out of family dinners, a week at the beach, yard work and a little American Idol!
Favorite St. Catherine's tradition or memory:
This is a difficult question because there are so many. My husband loves the Christmas program every year. He says it starts the holiday season for him. I love the first day of school (what can I say?) and the last. The opening service when the seniors walk in with the kindergarteners always brings a tear to my eye -it all goes by so quickly. There are a million traditions from class projects each year to ceremonies that you can't help but fall in love with this place.
Why we chose St. Catherine's:
Honestly, I was a public school girl my entire life but my husband was a private school kid, so he convinced me to look around. In the end, the class size and the overall school size convinced me. Small class size matters, but having an overall smaller school where all the teachers and staff know my kids has been invaluable. And I will say, although that's why we chose St. Catherine's, I couldn't even begin to list all the reasons we've stayed for 25 years. It has been so much better than I could have imagined.
