Amanda Tevepaugh Macaulay 1956
Amanda has always been a natural leader, and she set the gold standard for those with whom she went to school, played with and against, and for generations of Saints fortunate enough to have her mentor them.
Amanda has always been a natural leader, and she set the gold standard for those with whom she went to school, played with and against, and for generations of Saints fortunate enough to have her mentor them.
A 10-year day student, Amanda was a true pioneer for women's athletics, someone whose athletic prowess and superb sportsmanship made her well respected among her contemporaries. She was White Team Captain and earned 12 varsity letters—four each in field hockey, basketball, and softball—earning her the "White Blazer Award" at St. Catherine's. This, in and of itself, is remarkable, but she did this while competing outside of St. Catherine's on the City of Richmond tennis team. She was crowned a three-time Richmond City Women's Champion in 1958, 1959, and 1961. Amanda went on to Wheaton College, where she excelled in field hockey, basketball, and tennis. She also served as president of the college's Athletic Association. It is no surprise that Amanda was named to the St. Catherine's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Impressive as her athletic accomplishments are, perhaps Amanda's greatest distinction is her unwavering devotion to her alma mater. As a faculty member, Amanda served as the Director of Athletics, coached tennis and field hockey, Director of Minimester (now called Saints Explore), and leader of Waterman, the outdoor education program. As an alumna, she further channeled her dedication to St. C and her class of '56 into planning and hosting reunion events, working as a class agent and fundraising volunteer, serving as President of the Richmond Alumnae Board and Centennial Celebration volunteer, and assuring the future of her school by joining the Arcade Society, our planned giving program. If there is a volunteer role or group to be a part of at our School, you can be sure that Amanda has signed up for it. Still to this day, you can count on seeing Amanda at sporting events and school functions on a regular basis. St. Catherine's is in her blood.
It is our honor to present the 2026 Adelaide Rawles Goolsby Flippen Outstanding Service Award to Amanda Tevepaugh Macaulay.
