New Members Inducted into Cum Laude Society
Sixteen students and two faculty members were inducted into the School's chapter of the Cum Laude Society,
St. Catherine’s celebrated academic achievement Thursday morning as 16 new members were inducted into the School’s chapter of Cum Laude Society. Dr. Gardner Campbell, Vice Provost for the Office of Learning Innovation and Student Success at VCU, was the guest speaker for the service.
The new inductees are seniors Sara Dotterer, Libbie Hamner, Genny Huss, Molly Phillips, Gillian Robinson, Catherine Simpson, Caroline Vath and Ellie Wallace.
Juniors inducted are Charlotte Cross, Ann Nicholson, Kate Nicholson, Annabel O’Hagan, Libbie Warner, Jocelyn Wickersham and Terrell Williams.
They join last year’s inductees from the Class of 2014 Charlotte Bemiss, Carmen Camp, Ryan Hodgson, Hallie Reichel, Maria Sison, Bailey Walker, Alaina Wibberly and Carolyn Wilson.
Dr. Karen Brockenbrough and Dr. Yun Zhu were both inducted Thursday as faculty members.
Cum Laude is made up of 382 chapters in the United States, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Canada, England, France and Spain. Approximately 4,000 new student members are inducted each year.
Dr. Campbell delivered a witty, fun and inspiring speech to the Upper School students about technology and how School is actually a technology tool.
“Learning occurs naturally,” he said. “School is just a technology tool to harness the power of learning and make it more powerful.”
