Students, faculty and staff celebrated the Lunar New Year earlier this week.
Leaders of the Upper School Asian Club held a red out/dress down day on Tuesday. Students donated $1 which will support the Organization of Chinese Americans - Central Virginia Chapter. The money will directly fund their one-on-one tutoring program. The organization is dedicated to the betterment of Chinese and other Asian Pacific Americans.
The Meriwether-Godsey staff prepared a delicious menu on Tuesday in honor of the holiday.
On Wednesday, Lower School girls learned about the Lunar New Year — specifically the Chinese New Year and Vietnamese Tet holiday — during chapel. Following poetry readings, LS Mandarin Chinese Teacher Kefu Dorion taught the girls about Chinese characters, red envelopes and even told a tale of the Zodiac animals.
