Meems Honored for Outstanding Service

Lang and Molly Gayle Meem '73 were the recipients of the Adelaide Rawles Flippen '30 Outstanding Service Award.
Well before their daughter Ashton started attending St. Catherine’s, Lang and Molly Gayle Meem ’73 were dedicating their time to the school. That service continued when Ashton was a student (she graduated in 2006) and still continues today.
The Meems were honored for their service to St. Catherine’s School Wednesday night during the Athletic Banquet as recipients of the Adelaide Rawles Flippen ’30 Outstanding Service Award.
This yearly award was created in 1994 to "honor that individual who shows an outstanding level of service and commitment to St. Catherine’s."
For more than 20 years Lang and Molly dedicated their time and services to Daisy Days, with Lang acting as DJ and Molly keeping Puttin' on the Hits running smoothly.
“They were the heart and soul of this major fund raising event,” said Carroll Blair Keiger '72, who presented the award to the Meems Wednesday night.
When Ashton became involved in athletics, they dedicated their time to Saints sports -- specifically field hockey, lacrosse and swimming. Molly has coached JV field hockey and lacrosse for the past ten years.  As a couple, they have run every St. Catherine's swim meet since the Kenny Center opened in 2003.
“Lang and Molly Meem have been extraordinary in their commitment and dedication to the Saints swimming program, even long after their daughter Ashton graduated from St. Catherine’s,” Athletic Director Julie Dayton said. “In fact, we have never held a swim meet in the Kenny Center without them.
“They are the first ones to arrive and the last ones to leave. Their expertise is first class.”
