Annual Giving

Each year, St. Catherine’s appeals to the members of our community for a gift to support the School's Annual Giving efforts. Annual Giving funds many of the "extras" that enhance and distinguish a St. Catherine's education. Annual Giving adds approximately six percent to the School’s operating budget and enables us to attract and retain premiere faculty and offer an unparalleled array of academic, athletic and arts programs. Annual Giving helps St. Catherine’s offer each girl a truly exceptional educational experience. 
 
In 2015-16, St. Catherine’s received $1,303,917 in unrestricted gifts to Annual Giving. The 2016-17 Annual Giving campaign runs through June 30, 2017 but we hope you will consider making your gift or pledge now. Also, if you or your spouse is affiliated with a company or foundation with a matching gift program, please remember to take a few simple steps to maximize your gift.
 
Levels of Recognition
St. Catherine’s values Annual Fund participation at all levels of giving. Our giving clubs were established to celebrate donors who make the School a philanthropic priority with a significant, unrestricted gift to the Annual Fund. See the chart on the right for the different levels.
 
Unrestricted/restricted gifts 
Most gifts to St. Catherine’s are unrestricted, allowing the Board of Governors and administration to use them to meet the School’s most pressing needs. Donors who wish for their gift to be used only for a specified purpose, such as support for a particular academic program or for financial aid, may make a restricted gift.
 
Matching Gifts
Many gifts to St. Catherine’s are doubled, or in some cases tripled, because corporations and foundations match gifts to education made by their employees, retirees and directors. During the 2015-16 school year, we received nearly $48,000 from matching gifts because donors remembered to send us their company’s matching gift form. We credit matching gifts to the same purpose as your original gift, unless you direct otherwise. Matching gifts directed to unrestricted annual giving count toward recognition in giving clubs. Your eligibility, and the amount and timing of your match, are at the sole discretion of the matching gift company or foundation.

Alumnae and Reunion Giving
St. Catherine’s alumnae demonstrate their commitment to the school in countless ways, including vital support for the Annual Fund. In 2015-2016, alumnae contributed $571,857 in unrestricted Annual Giving, approximately 44 percent of the total amount raised. Every five years, our alumnae call upon their classmates to make a special gift in honor of their reunion. The alumnae class with the highest percentage of participation in their class gift is honored each year during Reunion Weekend. 
 
Parent Giving
It is St. Catherine's hope that every family will participate in Annual Giving to the best of their ability. When the school seeks outside funding from philanthropic organizations, parent giving is viewed as tangible evidence of parent support for the School's mission Thus, parent participation is a gift of much needed funds and a vote of confidence in the school.
 
In 2015-2016, 65% of current parents participated in annual giving, contributing a total of $405,862. Additionally, parents and grandparents of the senior class continued a 33-year tradition with a major gift in honor of the Class of 2016. These funds for the Senior Gift were designated to refresh the furnishings in the Wright Library, creating a media lab and a technology endowment.

Each year, the Annual Fund depends upon the dedication and persistence of an army of volunteers. We are very grateful to the following members of our community who have stepped up to lead the 2016-2017 campaign:
