TEACHING GIRLS HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD

Now accepting applications for Summer Camp 2017

Camp Overview

“The Art of Change” will teach girls, who are currently in grades 6-8, how to become socially and culturally competent global citizens. Yewande Austin (a 2017 President Barack Obama “Lifetime Achievement Award” Honoree) will lead girls in a series of entrepreneurship workshops, STEAM and performing arts classes, and field trips while teaching them how to develop their own social business model with girls in another country! This multidisciplinary approach will show students how to think more creatively about solving real-world social issues. Are you ready to change the world? St. Catherine’s School will show you how!

Activist • Artist • Ambassador

History shows us how the arts shape our world. Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo Da Vinci was also a scientist and inventor. Acclaimed physicist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Albert Einstein was a violinist. Astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison was also a physician and a formally trained dancer. These iconic figures knew then what we finally understand today – everything, from science to the arts, is inextricably connected! No one understands this concept better than artist, activist and honorary U. S. Cultural Ambassador, Yewande Austin. Since 2006, her humanitarian organization, The Change Rocks Foundation, has used a combination of music, education and capacity building to empower over 250,000 participants in 16 countries with critical skills that reduce the impact of global poverty.
