Boys & girls age 3 years–grade 12
Special Interest Camps cover everything under the summer sun. Take a deep dive into a topic you are really into and maximize your skills. Increase your STEAM expertise from App and Game Design to Drone Building. Get a step up in academics from “Kick Start to Fourth Grade” to “Writing the College Application Essay.” Pump up your sports skills in the top-notch St. Catherine’s facilities or along the James River for outdoor action. Master practical skills with courses like “Babysitter Certification,” “Drivers Ed,” and a variety of culinary courses.

  • Adventures at Sea

    Ahoy, Mateys…let’s set sail on an adventure into the world of mermaids and pirates. Treasure hunts, sandcastle building, and mystical ocean discoveries await our pirates and mermaids. This adventure will dive deep into music, arts, language development, and social skills- just don’t tell the real pirates!

  • Edible Essentials

    This is the camp for a beginner chef to get a start on making basic recipes that will serve throughout a lifetime. Recipes made in this class are so kid friendly your camper will feel confident about making them at home.   • Enchanted Adventures

    Sprinkle some pixie dust and jump on your unicorn, we are heading into the Enchanted Forest!  This camp is filled with imagination building experiences and fun!  Campers will spark their creativity as they learn about the secret world of fairies, gnomes, elves, unicorns and all things imaginary.

  • Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

    Get your body moving with active songs, processed art, learning games and creative play all designed to strengthen the core muscles and motor planning skills used for fine motor skills. Children will learn correct number and letter formation,pencil grip and scissor skills as we use or Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes! We will explore fun,hands-on techniques to help your child grip the pencil correctly and control fine-motor muscles effectively through a variety of multisensory activities.

  • Jumping Beans

    Hop, Run and Skip to Jumping Beans! S-T-R-E-T-C-H your muscles and get your giggles out while learning about a new sport each day. Jumping Beans is great for developing gross motor and fine motor skills in a structured format that builds coordination, balance and confidence.

  • Latin Ballet of Virginia Day Camp

    Discover dance while connecting various dance forms to Latin language and culture. Each camp includes classes in Latin dance, ballet, modern and hip-hop. Dance history, drums and percussion, arts, crafts and much more will also be explored. This unique program is taught by professional dancers and musicians who have years of performance and teaching experience to share with students. Each session culminates with a final student performance, based on international legends and myths.

  • Princess & Superheroes

    Do you have what it takes to save the world? Do you have the sparkle to rein the world? Come and train to be the superheroes or princesses you were meant to be!     Join us on an exciting journey as we explore the Spanish-speaking world! We will learn the basics of the Spanish language while enjoying the thrill, movement and color of this diverse culture. We will sing, dance, create Spanish inspired artwork and even sample some yummy traditional Hispanic food, such as burritos and tacos. ¡Vamos!

  • American Girl Doll Camp

    Join us for an all American adventure as we learn about the crafts, recipes and fashions that the American Girl Dolls and their friends experienced during their historical eras. Participants should plan to bring a doll each day. There will be time to create jewelry for each doll and, of course, the dolls will want to participate in the tea party that will take place on Friday. Learn, play, fashion and socialize with friends and their American Girl Dolls!

  • Invention Convention: Hands-On Design & Engineering

    We’ll have tons of fun as we explore basic engineering principles. Tinker, design, build, test and refine your very own inventions using littlebits Electronics (easy-to-use electronic building blocks), Makey-makeys (simple invention kits that turn everyday into a keyboard controller) and a 3D Printer. Perhaps you will build a top-secret safe that responds to movement or noise, construct a trash-ketball game that keeps score, or design a one-of-a-kind interactive keychain for your backpack. What will you create?

  • Latin Ballet of Virginia Day Camp

    Discover dance while connecting various dance forms to Latin language and culture. Each camp includes classes in Latin dance, ballet, modern and hip-hop. Dance history, drums and percussion, arts, crafts and much more will also be explored. This unique program is taught by professional dancers and musicians who have years of performance and teaching experience to share with students. Each session culminates with a final student performance, based on international legends and myths.

    Do you dream of cookies, cakes and pies? In this fun baking class, you will practice math, science and more. A sampling of items on the menu: Fruit pies, quick breads, cookies and muffins, just to name a few. Your family will love the results!     Come discover, experiment, and create as we learn about the colliding worlds of art and science in this STEAM-based camp. We will create biomes from around the world, stargaze at constellations, master meteorology, investigate how things work and dabble in chemistry and physics.  Put on your learning cap and grab the art supplies because this STEAM camp will rock your world.

    This is an opportunity to participate in meaningful service to the local community. In this service learning program, we will enhance our group and interpersonal skills through working with diverse members in the Richmond community.     Shalom Farms is a regional food access and community development project started in 2008 by United Methodist Urban Ministries of Richmond (UMUMR). Shalom Farms works with communities to ensure access to healthy food and support healthy lifestyles. Through sustainable food production and hands-on experiences at the farm and in the city, Shalom Farms provides thousands of people in Richmond with access to healthy food! From planting and harvesting, to weeding and field preparation, join Leaders in Training as we support Shalom Farms!
