  • Growing Resilient Children

We all want our children to grow up strong and healthy, mentally as well as
physically. We want our children to be able to manage both victories and defeats,
to persevere and even excel when challenged. The social/emotional health of your
child largely depends on you. What is your parenting style? How can you use your
emotional intelligence to set loving boundaries? How can you keep your cool
when things get hot so that communication lines stay open? This workshop will
provide a mini-lesson on neuroscience and a mega lesson of parenting strategies to help you help your child "grow resilient."

  • Mindful Fuel: The Importance of Good Nutrition

Is there a right or wrong way to eat? Maybe not, but the practice of mindful eating is larger than the eating process itself; it involves how a person views food in the context of health, vitality, and emotional well-being. Join Chef Cate Smith as she helps us develop, deepen, and expand our understanding of the value and importance of mindful eating for growing minds of different ages and stages.
    Date: July 10

  • Mindfulness Matters! Making the Most of Mindfulness

Mindfulness, paying attention to the present moment on purpose and without judgment, can be thought of as a superpower. The ability to train the mind in this way has a seemingly impossible list of benefits: reduced anxiety and depression, improved sleep, focus, health, happiness, and overall sense of well being. Mindfulness is a powerful and lasting antidote to the detrimental effects of sensory overload, perceptual connectivity and excessive consumption. This talk will provide a straightforward introduction to mindfulness and offer guidelines for establishing a practice
and incorporating mindfulness into your everyday life. You will experience a short meditation and be given strategies to integrate mindfulness into everyday activities, such as walking, eating, driving, washing your hands, working on projects and using technology and social media. Experience the power of mindfulness: presence and inner peace.
