Middle School Girls go to Space Camp

Twelve Middle School girls traveled to Huntsville, Ala. for a special robotics camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
A group of Middle School girls is exploring space camp this week.
The 12 girls are attending the three-day Pathfinder Space. Camp Robotics program at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
The girls, all members of the Robotics program, are using EV3 robots that are programmed using LEGO Mindstorms and controlled wirelessly to complete missions on the Space Camp Robotics competition table. The students designed and built the robots and the attachments needed to complete the missions - including wireless technology.
They have refined their design and programming skills and even competed against each other. They also worked with underwater robotics. The girls received the RIF award (Reliability Ingenuity Fearlessness) at graduation.

Middle School students and teachers who traveled to Space Camp:
Sixth graders: Aubrey Cuevas, Elizabeth Goodwin-Birnie, Eve Manen, Rose Shulman, Manya Suri and Amelia Tefel
Seventh graders: Catherine Baker, Erin Degnan and Eliza Hopkins
Eighth graders: Arielle Ivy-Jones, Bella Shealy and Catelin Smith
