Career Day 2017

St. Catherine's welcomed alumnae back to campus for Upper School Career Day.
Katherine Akey didn’t let chronic motion sickness stop her from embarking on a one-month Arctic Circle Residency in Svalbard, Norway. Instead, she embraced the moment which resulted in a transformational experience.
Akey, who graduated from St. Catherine’s in 2007, kicked off Career Day 2017 by addressing all of the Upper School students in the chapel. Students then broke into sessions to listen to individual speakers. Each year during Reunion Weekend alumnae return to campus to inspire Upper School students on Career Day.
In late 2015 Akey sailed on an ice class barkentine tallship exploring Svalbard, a High Arctic archipelago just ten degrees from the North Pole, observing, creating and collaborating. She then shared her experiences through photography. Akey now works with younger students on photo literacy.
Akey encouraged Upper School students not to let self-perceived limitations cast a shadow on your life and to explore their own unique path in life.
