Freshman Patrolling the Slopes
Freshman Ava Gardner is one of the youngest Ski Patrollers in the nation.
Freshman Ava Gardner recently attended the National Ski Patrol Powderfall Convention in Colorado. While at the conference, Gardner met an avalanche dog and her handler and watched a live demonstration. She attended a class about Mountain Bike Patrolling and learned how to recruit more young patrollers.
The required aged for a patroller is 15 at Wintergreen, which is the youngest age of any resort. Wintergreen is Gardner’s home resort. She tested there the day she turned 15, making her one of the youngest patrollers in the nation.
