Celebrating Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year was celebrated around campus this week.
Students, faculty and staff celebrated the Lunar New Year earlier this week.
Leaders of the Upper School Asian Club held a red out/dress down day on Tuesday. Students donated $1 which will support the Organization of Chinese Americans - Central Virginia Chapter. The money will directly fund their one-on-one tutoring program. The organization is dedicated to the betterment of Chinese and other Asian Pacific Americans.
The Meriwether-Godsey staff prepared a delicious menu on Tuesday in honor of the holiday.
On Wednesday, Lower School girls learned about the Lunar New Year — specifically the Chinese New Year and Vietnamese Tet holiday — during chapel. Following poetry readings, LS Mandarin Chinese Teacher Kefu Dorion taught the girls about Chinese characters, red envelopes and even told a tale of the Zodiac animals.
