Students Named to Honor Choirs

Seven Upper Schoolers and one fifth grader were recently named to honor choirs.
Seven Upper School girls were named to the District Chorus and fifth grader Abby Brata was selected for the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Honor Choir.
The District Chorus audition was held virtually with 406 students submitting recordings. Singers had only two chances of recording the audition piece using the OpusEvent website and they were scored by six judges. The event is Feb. 10-12 at Deep Run High School. They will perform on Feb. 12.
Upper School students named to the District Chorus: Zoe Astruc, Leighton Broaddus, Brook Dodson, Madelyn Diradour, Elizabeth Kaufman, Cameron Gardner and Pender Raymond.
Brata was one of the 250 singers selected from the more than 1,200 students from 11 states who auditioned. She will travel to Raleigh, N.C. in February to rehearse with a master conductor followed by a public concert.
