Sisters Featured on NPR

Laila and Kaya Patel sell jewelry and stories to benefit Holiday Helper at Fort Lee.
The Patel sisters — Laila (eighth grade) and Kaya (third grade) — were recently featured on NPR's Marketplace. The girls discussed the individual businesses they created.
Laila got things started with her own jewelry business. She created unique pieces from jewelry she found and broken pieces. All proceeds benefit  Holiday Helper at Fort Lee.
"I think it is important for everyone to be able to afford a Christmas tree and gifts for their kids," Laila told NPR," And that everyone can be happy at Christmas time."
She has increased her sales from $70 her first year to $200 in her most recent year of selling jewelry. Laila's business inspired her little sister. Kaya first tried her hand at jewelry and then started creating stories.
"Whatever you like to do, you can start making it for your own business," Kaya advised the NPR listeners.
