50 Years at St. Catherine's

Middle School science teacher Martha Bedinger Holt is now in her 50th year at St. Catherine's School.
Middle School science teacher Martha Bedinger Holt kicked off her 50th year at St. Catherine's — first as a student, then as a teacher and some time as a parent!
As a student, Holt adored field hockey — until she blew out her knee as a senior. She was also member of the first-ever Saints track team and embodied School spirit as the Gold Team Captain both her junior and senior year. She was named the June Queen for the Class of 1975, an honor selected by her classmates and teachers as the senior who best represented her class and the true meaning of the School motto.
After graduation with a degree in Biology from Denison University, she returned to Grove Avenue to recruit boarders in the Admissions Office. After three years, she started teaching science in both Middle School and Upper School. Holt currently teaches sixth grade life science, is the Co-Chair for the Science Department and co-heads the Middle School Honor Committee. Over the years, she has served on a host of committees and won a variety of awards.
And there is no place Holt would rather spend her days.
"How could I not choose to be part of this community,” she said.
