Lewis and Staff Keeping Campus Clean and Safe

Corey Lewis and his staff enhanced cleaning protocols to keep St. Catherine's safe for students, faculty and staff.
When the pandemic began last spring, Corey Lewis was prepared.
As St. Catherine’s housekeeping manager, Lewis was already using EPA registered cleaning products for the past 10 years. And his relationship with his vendors allowed him to secure products before they became scarce.
"We have been using products that are EPA registered to effectively combat COVID-19 for over 10 years which made adjusting to this new normal a little easier," said Lewis, who has worked at St. Catherine's for 15 years. "But for me I've found that research, constant communication with my reps and being proactive has been keys in keeping up with all of the changes."
He said that the cleaning protocol "has been amplified by 500 percent to ensure we remain CDC compliant."  Lewis manages a staff of 27 in-house and contract employees. Enhanced cleaning protocols include cleaning bathrooms every 30 minutes and continuous wipe downs of high touch surface areas. Faculty and staff assist by cleaning down desks in the classrooms following classes.
"There have been two things that have been happening on campus that have really stood out to me: the flexibility of the St. Catherine's community during this time of uncertainty," he said. "and the ownership that everyone has taken with regard to not just their safety but the safety of everyone on campus."
Lewis has managed supplies with a surplus of EPA-registered cleaning products throughout the pandemic. Extra storage areas have been used on campus to hold the wipes, masks and other supplies needed for each space on campus as well as his crew.
