Rennolds Gallery Featuring Work of Noah Scalin

The work of nationally recognized artist Noah Scalin is on exhibit in the Rennolds Gallery in Turner Hall through Nov. 12.
The work of acclaimed Richmond artist Noah Scalin is on exhibit in the Rennolds Gallery in Turner Hall. The show opened on Monday and his works will be on display through November 12.
Scalin was on campus last fall for the Girls Innovate event. He created a special commission art project. Using donated clothing, Scalin created an anamorphic portrait in the likeness of Miss Jennie.
His work was featured on a national Old Navy campaign earlier this year. That partnership developed from a meeting at St. Catherine's for the Girls Innovate event. Scalin connected with Martin Agency CEO Kristen Cavallo. The Richmond-based Martin Agency produced a COVID-19 campaign for Old Navy, featuring Scalin's work.
At this time, the campus is closed to the public.
     About Scalin:
"Noah Scalin’s work is about reorganizing the noise of American culture into recognizable signals – illuminating the people, moments, and objects that should be prioritized over the distracting spectacle of our society. By using everyday items, including mass produced consumer goods, in his collages, photographs, installations, and sculptures, Scalin asks the viewer to recontextualize the ‘things’ in their lives that are normally taken for granted, overlooked or discarded. Inspired by the work of 16th century painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Scalin’s work creates a visual vibration – an oscillation between form and symbol – as the viewer shifts between seeing the subject represented and the objects & methods used to create it."
