Saints Athletics Update

     Saints athletes will begin their fall seasons on campus with some modifications that fit best with St. Catherine’s mission, personnel and facilities.
     As of now, only the low-risk sports, cross country and tennis, will compete in League of Independent Schools (LIS) competition starting in October, per league guidelines released today. Field hockey and volleyball will be re-evaluated in the weeks ahead to potentially start competition in October. Team training in all four sports will start on the new dates shared in an email earlier today.

New Athletics Start Dates for the Fall
  • Aug. 24 Varsity tennis, returning varsity cross country, varsity and JV field hockey, varsity and JV volleyball
  • Sept. 8 Grades 7-8 field hockey, grades 7-8 volleyball, returning JV and new cross country runners, returning JV and new tennis players
Practices and Games
     St. Catherine's remains committed to providing our student-athletes with healthy team experiences in the safest environments possible. The team training will generally be in smaller groups to begin, some teams will place groups of students together based on skill and/or fitness level. As of now, only the low-risk sports, cross country and tennis, will compete in League of Independent Schools (LIS) competition this year, per league guidelines released today. Field hockey and volleyball will be re-evaluated in the weeks ahead for competition beginning in October.
     Team training in all four sports will start on the new dates shared above. St. Catherine's is one of eight schools that competes in the LIS. There will be no fall state championships as announced by Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) last week.
