Making Masks for Others

Registrar Ann Lane has sewn 120 masks to share with others.
Students aren't the only ones making a difference in our community right now. Upper School Registrar Ann Lane has created 120 masks in the past five weeks to donate to local healthcare workers and Westminster Canterbury.
"I had a huge stash of quilting fabric going unused for over 15 years so what better thing to do with it than join in on making masks for those who needed them," Lane said.
While balancing her regular job supporting the Upper School, Lane discovered a Facebook group called RVA Masks 4 Health which provides details on where masks are needed locally. The group was started by a local woman, who Lane does not know. Now more than 4,000 people are supporting the efforts to make masks for local health care workers and health care facilities. All masks created in this group are donated and are not for sale.
"The project has given me so much joy during these past five weeks," Lane said. "It's a win-win situation for both those using the masks and those making them."
