Students Earn National Arts Awards

Four students were named National Medalists in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
     Four St. Catherine's students were named National Medalists in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
     Freshman Kate Dixon received a Gold Key. Her photography will be on display in New York City later this year. National Medalists are recognized at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
     Students receiving national medals:
  • Kate Dixon (freshman) Gold medal
  • Lauren Blake (grade 8) Silver medal
  • Kate Talley (senior) Silver medal
  • Gloria Xie (junior) two Silver medals
     The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for young artists and writers in grades 7–12. The 2,900 works of art and writing receiving national medals were selected from the more than 18,000 works awarded regionally with Gold Keys. This year, nearly 320,000 works were submitted in total to the Awards by students from every state in the nation for adjudication.
