St. Catherine's Begins Distance Learning

Students in all three divisions will engage in guided synchronous and asynchronous activities.
St. Catherine's begins Distance Learning tomorrow in response to the suspension of on-campus activities due to the COVID-19 epidemic. St. Catherine's students age 3 through grade 12 will participate in the Distance Learning Program.
Students in all three divisions will engage in a variety of guided synchronous and asynchronous activities during the school day. Tools such as Zoom will be used during the synchronous times to connect the students with teachers and advisors. Activities will focus on core academics, but allow for Well Being activities tied to P.E., dance and health.
Teachers have met this week, primarily through Zoom and conference calls, to prepare for tomorrow's launch of Distance Learning.
Faculty in each division have developed Distance Learning plans using best practices that are in alignment with the age and developmental level of our students. Our approach was developed using guidance and input from educators and schools across the globe as well as best practices for online learning. Our primary goal is to provide our students with a calm, consistent, and engaging experience as they transition to learning from home.
A Distance Learning Information for Students and Parents manual was developed by Director of Innovative Teaching and Learning, Jennifer Vermillion, and Academic Leadership Chair, Pontus Hiort, with input from administrators and faculty.
SaintsNet is the primary method of communication for student learning information in Middle and Upper School. The primary method of communication for Lower School students and parents is the classroom blogs.
