Middle School Robotics Team Earns Award at State Competition

Robotics teams from all three divisions competed over the weekend.
Team GIRLS won the Teamwork Award for Division I at the Va/DC FLL State Championship Tournament in Harrisonburg over the weekend! The team also received exemplary marks on the rubric for Robot Design in the category of Strategy & Innovation.
The tournament included 109 teams across two divisions. It is one of the largest robotics tournaments in the world.
Team GIRLS is all fifth graders — Emmie Bonnell, Maeve Connell, Lura Lovette, Vivian Morris, Karrington Ross and Madeline Taliaferro.
City Saints, the fourth grade team competing at the same tournament, received their two highest scores of the season during the robot runs on the tables.
The coordinate Upper School Robotics team, Snuffleupagus, competed last Saturday at Deep Run High School in the Regional FIRST FTC competition. Plagued by wifi technical issues early in the morning, the team did not score significant points until late in the afternoon which was just a bit late to podium.
