Lila Lohr Appointed Interim Head of School
Lila Lohr will join St. Catherine’s in July 2020 as the Interim Head of School.
Lila Lohr was appointed St. Catherine’s Interim Head of School for the 2020-2021 school year.
Announced in November, Lohr is a highly regarded educator and dynamic leader at the national level of independent schools, as well as a sought after Interim Head from coast to coast. She is currently serving as Interim Head at University Prep in Seattle and will join St. Catherine’s in July 2020.

Lohr is a graduate of Garrison Forest School, an all-girls’ school in Maryland, and received a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and a Master in Education from Goucher College. After teaching, coaching and leading at Independent Day School in Middletown, Conn. and Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, she served as Headmistress of St. Paul’s School for Girls in Baltimore and Head of Princeton Day School in New Jersey. Following those Headships, she has served as an Interim Head across the nation for two decades, including appointments at Princeton Day School, St. Paul’s School for Girls, Garrison Forest School, Marin Country Day School in California, and the Katherine Delmar Burke School for Girls and the Town School for Boys in San Francisco. The list of her board affiliations, professional memberships and published works is lengthy and impressive. Her joyful disposition, high energy and superb communication skills impressed the Search Committee.
Lohr shared, “Having graduated from Garrison Forest School and Vassar College, I know the role that those schools played in helping me find my voice. After spending half of my career teaching and leading in all girls’ schools with vibrant coordinate programs with their brother schools, joining St. Catherine’s feels like I’m coming home.”
With educational experience across all divisions and as a seasoned Interim Head of School, she understands the importance of maintaining both continuity and momentum as a school goes through a leadership transition. Paving the way for a smooth transition for our next Head of School will be a key priority for Lohr during her time at St. Catherine’s. In partnership with search consultants Carney Sandoe & Associates, the Search Committee is actively recruiting for our next Head of School with a goal to appoint a new Head for the 2021-2022 school year.
