A group of seventh and eighth graders attended the Greater Richmond Council of Teachers of Mathematics Math Day at the University of Richmond earlier this month.
St. Catherine’s won the Engineering Star Challenge. The students had to build a freestanding tower out of straws and the tallest structure won. The girls engaged in a variety of inspiring activities throughout the day.
Middle School Art teacher Pam Shelor presented on Tessellations during the one-ay event. Fifth grade math teacher Ali Bonnell is on the GRCTM board and is in charge of the Middle School Math Field Day.
Middle School students who attended the event were seventh graders Tess Holdaway, Taylor McElhaney, Elizabeth Kaufman and Tessa Brown and eighth graders Elise Avant, Sloan Coble, Feryaal Abassi, Catherine Flippen and Austin Nunnally.
