Saints Win LIS Lacrosse Title

St. Catherine's best Collegiate to repeat as LIS lacrosse champions.
The St. Catherine's lacrosse team beat top-seeded Collegiate 11-10 in double overtime at Collegiate to win the LIS title on Thursday. This is the second year the Saints defeated the Cougars by the same score in the LIS title game.
The two teams traded goals for most of the contest. The Cougars held a 10-9 lead later in regulation before Saints senior Breen Horner scored with 33 seconds remaining to tie the game 10-10 and force overtime.
The teams entered into a three minute, sudden death overtime. After the first overtime was scoreless, the teams switched ends of the field.
Saints junior Abby Jenkins then scored the game-winning goal with 1:21 remaining in the second overtime. It was her fifth goal in the game. Five different athletes scored for the Saints.
St. Catherine's goalkeeper Ellie Horner, a sophomore, recorded nine saves in the game.
