Career Day 2019

Twenty alumnae returned to campus to kick off Reunion Weekend with Career Day for the Upper School girls.
St. Catherine’s honored two alumnae Friday afternoon in Bannard Chapel, kicking off Career Day and Reunion Weekend.
Katherine Switz ’89 received the Distinguished Alumna Award and Julia Warren ’14 received the Distinguished Young Alumna Award. Switz and Warren kicked off Career Day 2018 by addressing all of the Upper School students Friday afternoon in the chapel. Students then broke into sessions to listen to individual speakers. Each year during Reunion Weekend alumnae return to campus to inspire Upper School students on Career Day.
Switz, Founder/CEO of The Stability Network, talked about her time at St. Catherine’s and the lessons she learned in physics, as a student-athlete and as a prefect. She told the girls about the issues she grappled with in life and how she landed where she is today.
And she left the students with important parting words.
“Figure out what it is that that lights you up and gives you passion and gives you hope,” Switz said.
Warren, who founded celebrateRVA during her junior year at St. Catherine’s, shared how the School’s motto continues to drive her today.
She also talked about the honor she was bestowed this past fall as a Points of Light honoree. Warren was one of the final people honored before former President George Bush died this past fall.
“Try each and every day to be a point of light,” Warren said. “I challenge each of you to see how you can be a point of light. It doesn’t have to be much — it can be just a smile.”
