Fourth Graders Engage in Hands On Community Service

Fourth graders served breakfast at the Shepherd Way Relief Center in downtown Richmond.
With big smiles on their faces and happy greetings, fourth graders in Sloan Hiscock’s class served breakfast to 175 people in just one hour.
The morning was part of the fourth grade service project with Shepherd Way Relief Center, located in downtown Richmond. The three other fourth grade classes will serve breakfast at the Center later this month. St. Christopher’s fourth graders will do the same in March.
Prior to arriving at the Shepherd Way Relief Center, the girls collected food items and then served them that morning. They also helped hand out toiletries at the Center.
To prepare for their service, fourth graders from both schools heard from Pastor Sigmund Collins, who started the Center in 2016. He talked to the students about his mission and what inspired him to start the Center.
