Three more St. Catherine's Robotics teams advanced to the VA-DC Championship Tournament at JMU next month — the seventh grade BOLTZ team, the fifth grade Artemis team and the fourth grade Electro Vibes team. These three teams join the fourth grade Robo-Girls team which qualified earlier this month.
Five St. Catherine's teams competed in First Lego League qualifiers over the weekend with successful results.
The seventh grade team, BOLTZ, received the Robot Design Award. BOLTZ team members: Piper Clemons, Addi Flota, Blakeley Frankenhoff, Alex Garrison, Genevieve Ivens, Juliana Kayser, Abby Prasanna, Tory Santangelo and Bella Torres.
The fifth grade team, Artemis, won both the Robot Performance Award with a score of 215, and then won the Champion's Award 1st Place for Division 1. Team members: Caroline Armstrong, Edie Degnan, Evie Glatt, Peyton Haberlin, Allie Horn, Mary Lecky and Archer Williams.
The fourth grade team, Electro Vibes, took first place in the robot game and won the Champion's Award. Team Members: Alina Desai, Eleanor Grandis, Gavin Greenawalt, May Reveley, Mallory Stark and Elizabeth White.
The sixth grade team, R.A.T.S. (Renewable Amusement Technology Systems), received the Core Values Award. They are alternates for the Champion's Tournament.
The eighth grade team, Electric Pithons, earned the highest cumulative score on the table for their division for all three competition rounds combined and the third highest overall score in a large and competitive field for their division at their tournament. They programmed all their missions in Python and were recognized with a special judges award.
