CSEE: Preparing the Heart and the Head for Service

Rev. Drew Johnson wrote a piece for CSEE titled "Preparing the Heart and the Head for Service."
Rev. Drew Johnson wrote a piece for the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education (CSEE) titled "Preparing the Heart and the Head for Service."
Rev. Johnson wrote about how to get students to ask deep questions. He talked about the different service-learning classes and projects at St. Catherine's and the School's long tradition of community service. Johnson explained the questions that prompt students to think about why poverty exists and then explained the online activities and experiences used for the students to gain insights.
"These activities and situations are designed to have students 'feel' the questions," Johnson wrote. "We hope the questions they raise will sit with them throughout the time at St. Catherine's."
Johnson also shared reflections from his students.
An Upper School religion teacher, Johnson directs the Upper School service-learning program.
