These awards are traditionally announced during Reunion Weekend in the spring. It was canceled this year because of the pandemic. The three were honored today during a special virtual celebration.

Nell was among six female film "resister" directors who organized under the banner of the directors' union and took a stand in the 1980s against discrimination toward women and especially women directors.
