Saints Upper School athletes resumed training on campus this week with small group workouts led by coaches. Field hockey and strength and conditioning started today with the other sports evaluating the best time to return to workouts on campus based on health guidelines and coach availability.
Upon arrival on campus, each student-athlete is asked to wear a mask. Their temperature is taken, they are asked questions for a health screening and then they hand sanitize before heading to the workout space. They are expected to maintain social distancing before, during and after the workouts. Each session ends with additional hand sanitizing.
While guiding the student-athletes, coaches wear masks. For outdoor sessions, they can remove the mask as long as they are more than six feet away from the athlete. The girls do not wear masks while working out.
Students-athletes must provide their own water and equipment for each session. Spaces are cleaned following the sessions and all School equipment is sanitized.
Saints officials worked with various state and local organizations and followed guidelines outlined by the CDC and Virginia Council on Private Education. Athletic Trainer Sug Chang and School Nurses Stacia Schoeffler and Elizabeth Blanton oversee the check in for the athletes on campus.
The campus remains closed other than these supervised workout sessions.
