Brilliant Choices will continue to offer all of the greatness that the community has come to expect from the long-standing Cat’s CAP program, but now with even more offerings of fun and engrossing activities. Young Explorers provides preschoolers with opportunities to expand their natural and creative curiosities in art music, puppetry, story telling, creative movement, puzzles, games and more. Cat’s Camper’s schedule their own activities with abundant choices in art, theater, dance, music, creative writing, foreign languages, computer, sports and more.

St. Catherine's
Brilliant Choices - Cat's CAP  (Creative Arts Program) is a co-ed summer day camp for children 3 ½ years through rising 10th graders. Classes foster creative expression through exploration and participation in the visual and performing arts. The program is complemented with courses in physical education, outdoor adventures, science, creative writing, foreign languages and more!

Young Explorers is a half-day summer preschool division of Brilliant Choices - Cat's CAP. We designed Young Explorers to meet the younger child's special interests and needs. Since 1982, and under the direction of early childhood education specialist Judy Nickels, Young Explorers has become an increasingly popular summer camp option.

The Young Explorers program divides boys and girls, ages 3 ½ to rising 1st graders, into seven age groups. A certified teacher heads each group, aided by qualified counselors. All supervisory staff members meet health requirements certifying them free of any condition, which might prevent caring for children.

Young Explorers' informal and stimulating environment provides children with ample opportunities to expand their natural and creative curiosities. Art, science, literature, woodworking, music, puppetry, storytelling, puzzles, games, and creative movement are all areas of emphasis. Other activities center on weekly themes and engage children in water-play and outside experiences. Children's musician Betsy Q. leads them in music, and storyteller Nancy Miller tells them stories. Violin lessons are taught as an optional music component of the program.

Cat's Campers - rising 2nd through 10th graders - schedule their own day's activities at Brilliant Choices - Cat's CAP. They have abundant choices from classes in visual arts, theatre, music, creative writing, language, computer, sports, and recreation. This class variety allows campers to focus on one subject or sample several.

We offer Cat's Campers classes by grade levels - rising 2nd to 3rd graders, rising 4th to 6th graders, and rising 7th to 10th graders.

The Cat's Campers' day divides into six 55-minute periods. The morning consists of 1st, 2nd and 3rd periods and the afternoon consists of 4th, 5th and 6th periods. Lunch and lunch activities separate the morning and afternoon periods. All Cat's Campers gather each Friday at the end of the day for Friday Frolics, a time for outdoor-themed events or special concerts.

Lunches for Summer 2010

Renovation of St. Catherine’s dining hall and kitchen will take place this summer. We regretfully will not be able to offer the types of lunches we have offered in the past. Therefore, lunch is not included in tuition cost.  Box lunches will be prepared daily and delivered to St. Catherine’s. Students may purchase box lunches for an additional $85.00 per session or they may bring their own lunch.  Please indicate your preference on the application.  All campers are invited to join us for a cookout each Friday!
