Middle School Team Finishes Second at Math Competition

St. Catherine's boasted the only all-girl team at the MathCounts competition.
     St. Catherine’s Middle School team finished an impressive second at the Richmond/Fredericksburg regional chapter MathCounts competition over the weekend.
     The only all-girls team, St. Catherine’s beat out 11 other teams, finishing behind Moody Middle School. Eighth grader Isabelle Engle finished sixth as an individual and was the School’s representative in the Countdown Round, where she finished third.
     Representing St. Catherine’s at the competition were eighth graders Catherine Brockenbrough, Isabelle Engel, Zuzu Park and Amelia Urban; seventh graders Brook Dodson, Anna Katherine Head, Kira Rackley, Catelin Smith and Mayher Suri and sixth grader Kayton Buerlein. The team is coached by Middle School math teacher Brett Degnan '97.
