St. Catherine's Celebrates International Day of the Girl

Girls in all divisions raised awareness for girls' education on Oct. 11.
The Green was filled with energy as girls in grades 3-4 ran 11 laps around the iconic space in honor of girls’ education.
The activity was one of many that took place on campus as part of International Day of the Girl. The U.N. began the campaign in 2011 to support the rights of girls worldwide. It is celebrated every year on Oct. 11.
The Lower School girls collected pledges for their "Go the Extra Mile for Girls" run in order to raise money for Khajura and Man Kumari, the two girls the Lower School sponsors at partner school Kopila Valley School in Nepal.
Upper School packed more than 50,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now last Friday in honor of International Day of the Girl. Many of the meals were used to help people impacted by Hurricane Matthew.
Middle School girls participated in a variety of events on International Day of the Girls including a special chapel to start the day. Students also heard from parents who grew up in Cameroon and learned traditional Indian and Contemporary dances.
Students in all grades helped create a video to celebrate “I am a Girl. I can do anything.” Watch the video.
