CNN Hero of the Year Visits St. Catherine's

2015 CNN Hero of the Year Maggie Doyne visited with students in all three divisions before Thanksgiving break.
St. Catherine's welcomed 2015 CNN Hero of the Year Maggie Doyne to campus on Tuesday. She met with all three divisions throughout the day.
"You are my little sisters," Doyne told the students. "You are the ones who are going to come up after me and make a change."
Doyne, who is just 28 and received the award from CNN just last week, started BlinkNow and founded the Kopila Valley School and Home in Nepal.
St. Catherine’s has several strong connections to Doyne and Kopila Valley School in Nepal. Lower School has partnered with Kopila Valley School on several projects, including sponsoring girls to attend the school. Alumna Caroline Porter ’06 worked with Doyne at the school and home and third grade teacher Ashley Miller ’86 visited the school and worked with their teachers.
Doyne shared with Upper and Middle School students her personal journey that started just out of high school with a yearning to travel and ended with the creation of the school and her 51 children.
She finished the day meeting with Lower School students, who raised money at the end of the 2014 school year to build a bridge at Kopila Valley School. The LS girls presented Doyne with cards and gifts to take back to her students in Nepal.
