St. Catherine's students earned a total of 64 awards in the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition.
Sophomore Catie Nolan earned four gold keys in photography while fellow sophomore Madeleine Fratarcangelo earned three gold keys for painting. Ten other Upper Schoolers earned gold keys, including Austin Smithers who earned a gold key for her portfolio. Three Middle Schoolers earned gold keys in arts.
Sophomore Kate Oelkers earned the only gold key for the school in writing, earning it for journalism. She also earned a silver key for personal essay/memoir and an honorable mention for poetry.
Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become a part of our community — young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets, and sculptors, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.
