Lillian Crocker and Ella Spruill are performing in the roles of Clara for the Richmond Ballet production.
By Colleen GregorySt. Catherine's Senior While most students spent the end of their summer vacations relaxing in the sun and lounging by the pool, eighth grader Ella Spruill and seventh grader Lillian Crocker had Christmas on their minds.
The pair were each respectively cast as Clara in the Richmond Ballet’s Nutcracker and have been hard at work since August. The Nutcracker is divided into two casts over the performance dates.
The time commitment is a big one, with Crocker stating “we are spending 10 hours at the ballet on weekends.”
However, the girls are not only up for the challenge, but embrace it. Spruill asserts that she “loves getting to practice with the company and learn new choreography,” while Crocker affirms “it feels incredible to be Clara.” Both girls are extremely honored to be a part of the cast.
