Saints’ Celebration of Cultural Diversity

St. Catherine's and St. Christopher's held a gathering at VMFA last week.
St. Catherine’s and St Christopher’s Schools joined together for the Saints' Celebration of Cultural Diversity last week in the Claiborne-Robertson room at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Throughout the evening, approximately 100 parents representing cultural diversity enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres and drinks while mingling with current, newly accepted and prospective families.
St. Catherine’s Upper School students Domenic Crump, Liza Mickens, Briana Scripture and Shala Munn served as hostesses and greeted and guided families as they toured selected exhibit rooms. Dr. Nicole Hood, Upper School Art History teacher highlighted African-American Art in the 20th Century American Gallery. Annabel Edge ’64, St. Catherine’s Board member and Virginia Museum docent, highlighted art in the Indian Galleries. Hamil Jones, St. Christopher’s History teacher and varsity basketball coach, shared his insight while discussing pieces in the Civil Rights Photography exhibit.
Dr. Terrie Scheckelhoff and St. Christopher’s Headmaster Charley Stillwell welcomed families and shared their excitement in teaming with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to highlight the richly diverse cultural treasures in our communities, school and greater Richmond.
