In 2004 St. Catherine's was fortunate bring Richard Peyton in to lead the Saints tennis program. Soon thereafter, St. Christopher's also hired Coach Peyton to lead their tennis program (girls play in the fall, boys play in the spring). In 2007, Pontus Hiort signed on to assist Coach Peyton. And for the past 7 seasons, the two have successfully worked together to build both programs. After 10 years, Coach Peyton is turning the reigns of the St. Catherine's program over to Coach Hiort, but will stay on to serve as the assistant and remain as Head coach at St. Christopher's. Coach Hiort is a full time faculty member in the St. Catherine's History department. Prior to arriving at St. Catherine's, he coached both the men's and women's tennis programs at Northern Illinois University. Coach Hiort on taking over the program: "I am very honored to be the new Head Coach of the Varsity Tennis Team. During the past ten years, Coach Peyton has built an exceptional foundation for the program, and I am excited to seek new ways to improve our team even further. I will work to provide a meaningful athletic experience for our players, and in the process continuing the excellent tradition of Saints Tennis."
Director of Athletics Julie Dayton says “Richard has led St. Catherine’s tennis program through a strong cycle of success. He has given so much of his time and talent, all while juggling a full time job. Stepping into the assistant role will allow him a little more flexibility with his other commitments. These two coaches make a cohesive and effective coaching staff and I am so proud that they are on the Saints coaching staff.”

The 5th annual Saints Diving Invitational drew the strongest field ever including over 80 divers representing public and private schools from all over the state. This is St. Catherine's first team title for the Invitational. The day was a total team effort. All of our divers (V and JV) placed in the top 8 and scored points for the team. Riley Alvis finished 5th and Naomi Chetelat finished 6th, both girls dove really well. Riley nailed her last dive to set a new school 11-dive record of 342.85 breaking Annie Moore's 2005 record of 338.00 and was named the Gloria P. Thompson Award winner (goes to the top local diver male or female). The JV divers faced a tough field as well. Chandler Kerkam (2nd), Abby Craig (4th), Hannah Dennison (7th) and Anna Dykshorn (8th) all had a great meet. St. Christopher's Richard Bailey also dove well against a tough field finishing 8th out of 20.
