St. Catherine's cross country has wrapped up another successful season culminating with the LIS and STATE Championships! The Saints took charge of the challenging course at Woodberry on Friday but not without a hard chase from Bishop O'Connell. Libby Parrish led all runners, finishing in 6th place Izzy LeBey, 7th place Ann Nicholson, 16th place Kate Nicholson and in 20th place Ryan Dotter. Riley Alvis finished 27th and Ryley Ogden finished 36th. The Saints edged out Bishop O'Connell 50-59. The season was a great team effort with all runners showing great improvement, trading off leaders and many many PR's. Congratulations to all of the girls and coaches on a job well done.
St. Catherine's cross country team started off the afternoon with a tremendous team effort. Senior Libby Parrish led all runners with a first place finish. Several other Saints finished in the top 15 to bring home the LIS Championship. All LIS honors go to: Libby Parrish, Izzy LeBey, Ann Nicholson, Kate Nicholson, Ryley Ogden, Riley Alvis and Ryan Dotter. There were several PR's, and really strong runs from all of the Saints, including the JV runners who participated in the JV race. The Kenny Center was the place to be in the evening as the defending LIS Champion Saints hosted St. Anne's Belfield. STAB made a run at the Saints several times, but today brought out impressive teamwork for the home team and a 3-0 win. The Saints went through the League season undefeated and showed strength against some of the top teams in the state including a few big public schools. This championship makes it a "three-peat" for Saints volleyball, and 4 LIS championships out of the last 5. Congratulations to Saints Cross country and Saints volleyball!
The Saints tennis team showed gutsy effort on Thursday at the LIS Championship. After the singles finals--all Collegiate vs St. Catherine's, each team had 3 wins. The doubles finals also put St. Catherine's against Collegiate. We had a great win at #2 doubles, but dropped #1 and #3 doubles.
