|  | Extended Day is a world of exciting activity. For each child, that world is different and appropriate for his or her own age. Visit Extended Day on any day and you see work and play happily coexisting. There might be several seventh graders working at computers, doing homework, reading, or having a snack to wind down from a busy academic day. In the gym, a group of kindergarten children might be learning a new game or stretching their bodies in creative movement. Other children may be at play outdoors, dancing in the mirrored dance studio or learning to cook with a batch of muffins as their reward.
Extended Day is different things for different children. St. Catherine's and St. Christopher's teachers and parents work together with the Extended Day faculty to meet each child's needs.
Extended Day has its own separate facilities in the St. Christopher's Lower School building, including a gymnasium, dance studios, art and cooking areas, woodworking studio and a playground with swings, slides, and climbing equipment. The Lower School's gymnasium and library are also available for use. During the summer and when the lifeguard is on duty, children may use the swimming pool. And any day when the weather permits, children can enjoy spending time in the school's secluded garden courtyard.
The Extended Day program serves St. Catherine's and St. Christopher's students from junior kindergarten through grade seven. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. The amount of time a student spends in the program determines the tuition. Financial Aid is available.
